Local Lacrosse Information
As of the recently concluded 2019 season, there were three local youth lacrosse clubs in Southern Arizona: The Tucson Titans, the Bandits, and Oro Valley. The Titans and the Bandits both practiced at Rillito Regional Park. All three clubs play in the Arizona Youth Lacrosse League which is made up of the Tucson youth lacrosse clubs and the many youth lacrosse clubs in the greater Phoenix area. Games are played in Tucson, Phoenix and places in between such as Maricopa.
The only off-season youth lacrosse travel club based in Southern Arizona that currently exists for 12U and 14U players is the 520 Lacrosse Academy run by the Tucson Titans coaches. There are several other off-season youth field travel teams based in the greater Phoenix area, such as Hot Sauce Lacrosse and Arizona Outlaws, as well as box lacrosse (indoor) youth travel teams like the Arizona Outlaws and others.
For the 2019 season, there were four local high school lacrosse teams in Southern Arizona: Salpointe, Foothills, Mountian View and Oro Valley. High school players who attend a school without a lacrosse team may play on a lacrosse team associated with a different high school than the one they attend. These teams play in the Arizona Lacrosse League ("ALL") which is the official league for high school lacrosse in the State of Arizona. Last year, the ALL had approximately 24 varsity teams, as well as additional junior varsity teams.
The Univeristy of Arizona, Arizona State, Northern Arizona University and Grand Canyon University college lacrosse teams all play in the MCLA. The MCLA has two divisions based on level of play and over 200 college teams in total.
A number of Arizona high school players have gone on to play NCAA Division lacrosse out of state, including current University of Denver players Chris and Teddy Sullivan who started their lacrosse journey in Tucson under Coach Mike's guidance.
